Find out more about Elisabeths’ interview, our doctor in emotional health.
Hello Elisabeth, can you introduce yourself quickly and explain how you support users on wellness issues?
Hello! With pleasure! I am a doctor and researcher in cognition and behaviour with among other things. In medicine, my main specialty is psychiatry-psychotherapy with research and teaching skills. At the same time, my career path is very rich and diversified. I also have clinical skills and practice in general, occupational, emergency and family medicine in 3 different countries.
My passion to understand and help people is at the root of my energy, to seek and transmit concepts and strategies that help people to discover and develop themselves in their lives.
Do you use any particular technics, what do they consist of?
My training in psychotherapy is varied and complementary, and I do not stop studying and practicing. The most important thing for me is to always take the person as a starting point. Consider your individuality and needs without prioritizing a particular method. I adapt my method to the person, not the other way around. Their are technics in certain areas that have been proven and confirmed as being effective.
It’s the case with CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy), and its third wave, ACT (Acceptance and Engagement Therapy). In general, these technics encourage the person to take constructive action by offering many interesting activities. They encourage the individual, among other things, to emerge from sterile struggles, to live life in the present, to regain self-esteem and self-confidence. ACT postulates that a behaviour is the result of many internal influences and questions the individual about what is important to him/her.
Since my starting point is always the person, my way of apprpoach will always be the one that best meets his or her needs.
If you had any advice to give?
I’ll have a lot to say! But fundamentally, we must seek to have a positive view of life, despite difficult experiences. The goal is to discover oneself and reveal one’s internal strengths.
More precisely, my advice would be: seek self-knowledge, don’t let your fears and doubts slow you down, and above all, trust the creative power you have in you.
See you very soon,
